Does Rust Have a Crosshair Setting?
No — and it's worth being clear about, because plenty of pages imply otherwise. Rust deliberately hides the crosshair for most weapons when firing from the hip, there is no settings toggle to enable one, and no console command adds a custom crosshair. Facepunch wants aiming down sights to matter.

Is This Allowed? (EAC & Overlays)
Rust uses Easy Anti-Cheat, so it's a fair question. Our guidance, not a legal guarantee:
- •Monitor crosshairs(built into many gaming monitors' OSD) are drawn by the display hardware itself — software on your PC, including anti-cheat, cannot see them. This is the zero-risk option.
- •Static overlay appsthat only draw an image on top of your screen are a grey area. They don't read game memory or assist your aim mechanically, but no third-party app can promise how anti-cheat policy will treat it, and neither can we. Never claim otherwise of any tool that says it's "EAC-approved" — EAC doesn't endorse overlays.
- •Anything that hooks into the game process— injectors, memory readers, "in-game" crosshair mods — is firmly against the rules. Don't.

A crosshair code is a short text string that stores every setting of a crosshair design — style, color, size, gap, thickness, outline and opacity — so it can be shared and re-imported. Our codes start with "rustly-v1:" and encode your settings in a compact URL-safe format. Paste a code into the tool to load someone else's design, or copy yours to share it.

Hip-fire in Rust is intentionally imprecise, and Facepunch left the crosshair out so aiming down sights actually matters.
