Rust Events
Rust runs two kinds of events: seasonal ones Facepunch switches on for a couple of weeks a year (Easter, Halloween, Christmas), and world events that happen on every server all year round.
Seasonal events
Seasonal events only run while Facepunch enables them server-side — outside their window, none of these mechanics exist in the game.
Timed egg hunts every 24–38 in-game hours — collect painted eggs, upgrade them bronze → silver → gold, and crack them for loot up to an M249.
Candy hunts roughly every two in-game days, portals to loot dungeons, and a buildable Frankenstein monster stitched together from scarecrow and mummy parts.
Jingle bells drop presents near every player, stockings refill with loot indoors, and the Advent Calendar hands out one surprise per real-life day.
World events
These recur on every vanilla server regardless of the calendar. Each links to its full page with loot tables and tactics.
The attack helicopter that hunts armed players. Weak spots, rotor HP and the loot it drops.
Parachuted crate visible to the whole server. Full drop table and real chances.
The scientist-guarded ship drops Locked Crates in groups of three — the best crate in the game after a 15-minute hack.
Heavy-scientist platform with a Locked Crate event of its own. Layout, puzzle and loot.
The smaller offshore platform — quicker to take, same Locked Crate mechanic.
