Rust Halloween Event

Candy hunts, dungeon portals, roaming scarecrows and mummies — and a monster you build yourself.
How the candy hunt works
While the event is live, a candy hunt begins roughly every two in-game days. Candy spawns around you and everyone has 3 minutes to grab as much as possible.
The top 3 collectors get special loot bags. Candy and loot bags open into loot ranging from scrap up to an M249 — and if you miss the podium, the candy you collected can be upgraded for better loot, so nothing is wasted.
A pumpkin-themed bucket — the Pumpkin Bucket — lets you pick candy up instantly, the same edge the Egg Basket gives at Easter.
Portals and dungeons
Rifts open at random locations across the island while the event runs, leading into loot dungeons. They are contested for the same reason airdrops are — everyone can see where the loot is. Server owners can control how many portals spawn with the halloweendungeon.population convar.
Building Frankenstein's monster
- Kill the scarecrows and mummies that roam the map during the event — they drop monster body parts: a head, a torso and legs.
- Craft a Frankenstein Table and place it in your base.
- Slot all three parts into the table to bring the monster to life.
- Press P to command it — it can follow you, defend you, or attack your enemies.
Event items
Halloween leaves behind more permanent items than any other Rust event — most of the spooky decor below is craftable or obtainable during the event and keeps working all year.
Tips
- Grab the instant-pickup bucket before your first hunt — 3 minutes is nothing at walking-interaction speed.
- Upgrade candy instead of opening it piecemeal; concentrated rolls average out better.
- Farm scarecrows and mummies early — monster parts get contested once the server realises what drops them.
- Treat portals like airdrops: assume someone else is coming, and fight for the dungeon or leave it.
