Rust Recycler Locations

Every monument and whether it has a recycler, grouped by how safe each one is to use — safe zones first, then the radtowns. Recyclers break components down into scrap and raw materials, and knowing the nearest one to your base is the difference between banking your loot and hauling it across the map.

Find a recycler fast

Safest

Bandit Camp, Outpost, Fishing Village — safe zones with recyclers. No radiation, and you can't be shot while you stay non-hostile.

Fastest

Roadside stops like Oxum's Gas Station, Abandoned Supermarket, Mining Outpost — no radiation, no puzzle, and most maps have several along the roads.

On a loot run

Recycle on-site at the radtown you're already running — almost every major monument in the table below has one. You bank scrap before the trip home instead of risking the components.

This table covers the 30monuments in our dataset. A few locations aren't in it yet — notably Cargo Ship, the underground train tunnels, the quarries and minor points of interest like caves and swamps — so they're deliberately left off rather than guessed at.

Safe zone vs radtown recyclers

The safe-zone recyclers at Outpost and Bandit Camp are the convenient option — no radiation, no getting shot mid-recycle. The radtown recyclers out at monuments give better and in some cases extra yields on certain items, at the cost of rads ticking and PvP being a real possibility. If you're running a monument anyway, recycle on-site; if you just want to safely liquidate junk, use a safe zone. Our recycling guidecovers what's worth feeding the machine, and the recycle chart shows the exact yield for every item.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which monuments have a recycler in Rust?expand_more

Of the 30 monuments in our dataset, 29 have a confirmed recycler — including the Bandit Camp, Outpost, Fishing Village safe zones and small roadside stops like Oxum's Gas Station, Abandoned Supermarket, Mining Outpost. The exception is Abandoned Military Base, where we mark it "not documented" rather than guess: no primary source says whether a recycler spawns there. The full table above lists each one with its radiation level and a link to the monument guide.

Is there a recycler at Missile Silo in Rust?expand_more

Yes — Missile Silo has a recycler on site, and radiation there is medium, so bring appropriate protection if you plan to linger. See the Missile Silo monument guide for where everything is.

Is there a recycler at Large Barn in Rust?expand_more

Yes — Large Barn has a recycler on site, and there's no radiation, so you can use it in whatever you're wearing. See the Large Barn monument guide for where everything is.

Is there a recycler at Outpost in Rust?expand_more

Yes — Outpost has a recycler on site, and it's a safe zone, so you can recycle without getting shot as long as you stay non-hostile. See the Outpost monument guide for where everything is.

Where is the closest recycler in Rust?expand_more

Usually a roadside monument — Oxum's Gas Station, Abandoned Supermarket, Mining Outpost, Lighthouse, Ranch, Large Barn, Stables all have recyclers with no radiation and no keycard puzzle, and most maps scatter several of them along the roads. If you'd rather not risk being shot mid-recycle, head to a safe zone: Bandit Camp, Outpost, Fishing Village.

Are safe zone recyclers worse than monument recyclers?expand_more

The radtown monument recyclers give better or extra yields on some items compared to the standard safe-zone baseline at Outpost and Bandit Camp. The tradeoff is radiation and the risk of PvP while you recycle — our recycling guide covers when each is worth it.

What does a recycler do in Rust?expand_more

A recycler breaks items and components back down into raw materials and scrap. Feed it the components you loot from crates and barrels — gears, springs, rifle bodies, tech trash — and it returns scrap plus base resources like metal fragments and high quality metal. It's the main way scrap enters your pocket. Our recycle chart shows exactly what every item breaks down into.
