Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to repair an Assault Rifle in Rust?expand_more

A full repair from broken costs 13 High Quality Metal + 40 Wood at a Repair Bench, and you must know the AK blueprint. Repairing from higher condition costs proportionally less — half-condition is half the materials.

How is repair cost calculated in Rust?expand_more

Repairing costs a fraction of the item's full repair cost equal to the condition you've lost — repair an item at 40% condition and you pay 60% of the materials. The full (0→100%) cost is a datamined value per item, not the same as its craft cost, and repairs use raw materials rather than components.

Why can't I repair an item forever in Rust?expand_more

Most weapons and armor lose 20% of their MAX durability every time they're repaired (shown as the red section of the condition bar), so they can only be repaired about five times before they're spent. A few items — siege weapons and some tools — have no max-durability loss and can be repaired indefinitely.

Do you need the blueprint to repair an item?expand_more

For most crafted items, yes — the Repair Bench needs you to know the item's blueprint (or have crafted it) to repair it. Items you can't craft, like some found-only gear, can't be repaired at all.
