Rustly Companion — Extension Privacy Policy

• It reads the name of the skin/item you are currently viewing and sends that name to rustly.com to fetch prices.
• To value your inventory, it reads your own SteamID and Rust inventory item list directly from Steam, in your browser. For valuation your SteamID is used locally to call Steam and is not sent to Rustly — only the item names are, to price them.
• Signing in with Steam is optional. If you choose to, your SteamID, Steam display name and avatar are shared with Rustly — the same sign-in the rustly.com website uses — so your account matches. The extension works fully without signing in.
• Your inventory value history is stored only on your device so the popup can show “change since last visit”.
• No browsing history, no analytics, no advertising, no data selling, no tracking.

• Steam Market listing pages (steamcommunity.com/market/listings/252490/…): the skin's name from the page, to show cross-market prices and whether it's a free Twitch drop.
• Your Steam inventory (steamcommunity.com/…/inventory): the item you select — its name and whether it's marketable — to show where it's best to sell.
• Supported skin marketplaces (Skinport, DMarket, Waxpeer, Tradeit, ShadowPay, Swap.gg): the name of the skin on the page, to show if it's cheaper elsewhere.
• The popup: your SteamID (from Steam, if you're signed in) and your Rust inventory list, to total its value and show the biggest movers.

It only runs on those sites — it cannot see any other tabs or pages you visit.

To look up prices, the extension sends the skin/item name(s)you're viewing to the Rustly pricing API at rustly.com. For inventory valuation, that is the list of item names in your Rust inventory. Prices come from a snapshot Rustly already publishes, so these price lookups contain no personal identifiers — just item names — and your IP is not logged against you. The one exception is if you choose to sign in with Steam (see below), which shares your Steam identity with Rustly on purpose.

You can sign in with Steam to link the extension to your Rustly account — the same Steam OpenID sign-in the website uses. It is entirely optional and the extension works fully without it. If you do sign in, Rustly receives your SteamID, Steam display name and avatar (never your Steam password — Steam handles that) to identify your account, exactly as the rustly.com website does; this is covered by the main Rustly privacy policy. Your sign-in is stored locally in the extension and you can sign out at any time from the popup.

The extension uses your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) to keep your detected SteamID and a short history of your inventory's total value, so it can show “change since last visit”. This never leaves your browser and is removed if you uninstall the extension or clear its data.

• rustly.com — fetch prices, drops and inventory values.
• Skin marketplaces (Skinport, DMarket, Waxpeer, Tradeit, ShadowPay, Swap.gg) — show the price-comparison card on those pages.
• Storage — remember your SteamID, optional sign-in and value history locally.
• Identity — only if you choose to sign in with Steam, to complete the sign-in.

• No required account — signing in with Steam is optional and the extension works fully without it.
• No tracking, analytics, fingerprinting or advertising.
• No selling of your data, and no sharing it with third parties.
• No reading of pages other than the Steam and marketplace sites listed above.
• No access to your Steam password (the extension never sees it).

Some “Buy” / “Sell” links to marketplaces are affiliate links; clicking one takes you to that marketplace, which has its own privacy policy. This doesn't share any personal data about you.
