Already know what you're breaking? These skip the calculator and just give you the number, the sulfur cost and whether there's a cheaper way.
Melee & softsiding
No boom? These count tools worn out rather than sulfur — and for walls the soft side is a different game entirely.
Raiding — common questions
How many C4 for a sheet metal door?expand_more
A Sheet Metal Door takes 1 C4 (about 2,200 sulfur). It's the fastest way in, though satchels are cheaper if you have the time — the calculator above ranks every method by sulfur cost.
How many C4 for a garage door?expand_more
A Garage Door takes 2 C4 (4,400 sulfur). Garage doors have no soft side, so you pay full price from either direction.
How many rockets for a stone wall?expand_more
A Stone Wall takes 4 rockets (5,600 sulfur) from the hard side. The cheapest method is actually 2× Timed Explosive Charge at 4,400 sulfur — always soft-side a wall if you can reach it.
What's the cheapest way to raid a sheet metal wall?expand_more
The cheapest way to break a Sheet Metal Wall is 4× Timed Explosive Charge for 8,800 sulfur (hard side). Hitting the soft interior side drops that by roughly a third — pick the wall and toggle the soft side in the calculator above.
How many satchels for a wooden door?expand_more
A Wooden Door takes 2 satchel charges (960 sulfur) — but at 200 HP a couple of hits from a decent melee weapon is cheaper still if you're not in a rush.
How many C4 for an armored wall?expand_more
An Armored Wall — the toughest building tier at 2,000 HP — takes 8 C4 (17,600 sulfur). This is why raiders almost always go through the cheaper walls or doors instead.
How is the raid cost calculated?expand_more
Every number comes from the community-tested Rust raid chart — the base explosive counts to destroy each structure at full HP — and is multiplied out for the quantity and softsided if you choose. Sulfur is the raw amount in each explosive's craft chain, so you can compare methods on true cost, not just item count.
