What counts as boom in Rust?expand_more
Boom is the catch-all for any craftable explosive you bring to a raid — in the current build that's C4, Rocket, Satchel Charge, Beancan Grenade, Explosive 5.56 Ammo, High Velocity Rocket, Incendiary Rocket, Propane Explosive Bomb and F1 Grenade. The calculator above totals every one of them for whatever structures you add, so "how much boom" becomes a single number per explosive instead of guesswork.
How much boom do I need for a sheet metal wall?expand_more
A Sheet Metal Wall (1,000 HP) goes down to 4× C4 — the lowest-cost boom for that wall. Every other option for the same wall is in the boom chart below.
Is C4 or rockets less boom for the same job?expand_more
It flips depending on the target, which is why a flat rule of thumb gets people wrong. A Sheet Metal Wall is 4× C4 against 8× rockets. A Garage Door is 2× C4 against 3× rockets. Add your actual structures above rather than assuming one explosive always wins.
How long does a full base raid take?expand_more
Longer than most raid plans budget for. An Armored Wall alone is 8× C4 and roughly 1m 20s of placing and detonating, before you have moved, looted or fought anyone. The run-time table below lists this for every structure so you can add up the whole route.
Do double-layer walls need double the boom?expand_more
Yes — each wall is its own separate HP pool, so a second layer costs the same again. Add both to the calculator above (set the quantity to 2) rather than doubling it in your head, because the cheapest explosive for two walls is not always the cheapest for one.
Does the soft side change how much boom I need?expand_more
It does — the interior face of a wall takes more damage than the exterior, so fewer explosives get through. Everything on this page is priced hard-side (the exterior), which is what you face coming from outside a base.
