Rust Console Edition
Rust Console Edition is a separate game from PC Rust — different studio, different servers, different wipe schedule. If you've come from PC, most of what you know about wipes and updates doesn't carry over.

What Console Edition Actually Is
The important thing to understand up front: Console Edition is developed and published by Double Eleven, not Facepunch. It isn't PC Rust with a controller layout — it's a separate build, on separate servers, that receives content on its own timeline.
It runs on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with servers holding up to 100 players — smaller than the big PC servers, and Double Eleven have said higher populations are still in testing. Everything else — the survival loop, raiding, monuments, wipes — is Rust as you know it.
Differences From PC
- Wipes are on a different cycle.Console's monthly servers wipe the last Thursday of the month; PC force-wipes the first Thursday. Full schedule →
- Content lands on its own schedule.Console gets roughly monthly patches, but they don't mirror PC's monthly devblog — the two are simply on different tracks.
- There's a Rust Coins store.Console has a paid-currency skin store and DLC packs, which PC doesn't.
- No cross-progression. Your console account and your Steam account are unrelated. Nothing transfers, in either direction.
- Smaller servers. Up to 100 players, versus PC servers that regularly run far higher.
We're not publishing a "console is X updates behind PC" figure — no official source states one, and the honest answer is that the two are on separate tracks rather than one trailing the other by a fixed amount.
Where to Buy
Console Edition is a standard paid purchase on both stores — it's noton Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, and buying it doesn't give you PC Rust.

Frequently Asked Questions
What platforms is Rust Console Edition on?expand_more
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PS5 version released 26 June 2025. Double Eleven's current site only markets the new-gen release, so if you're asking about PS4 or Xbox One specifically, check the store listing for your platform directly — we're not going to guess at whether the older versions are still playable.
Who makes Rust Console Edition?expand_more
Double Eleven develop and publish it, not Facepunch. That's why it's effectively a separate game with its own servers, its own store, its own update schedule and its own wipe cadence — it isn't PC Rust running on a console.
Is Rust Console the same as PC Rust?expand_more
No. It's a separate build by a different studio, running on separate servers, with content that arrives on its own schedule. It also has things PC doesn't: a Rust Coins skin store, paid DLC packs, and a Public Test Branch bundled with the Deluxe and Ultimate editions.
How many players can be on a Rust Console server?expand_more
Up to 100. Xbox lists it as '2-100' and PlayStation as 'up to 99 online players'. Double Eleven have said higher-population servers are still in testing rather than shipped.
Does Rust Console wipe at the same time as PC?expand_more
No, and this catches people out constantly. PC force-wipes on the first Thursday of the month. Console's official monthly servers wipe on the LAST Thursday of the month at 18:00 UTC, and its weekly servers wipe every Thursday at 18:00 UTC.
