Rust Mobile
Announced and real — but not released, and with no announced date.
Rust Mobile is officially authorised and endorsed by Facepunch, and has been running a limited closed test. There is no release date, and we're not going to invent one.
Current status
Facepunch's official Rust Mobile page confirms the project is real, endorsed, and being built with their development partners rather than in-house. The most recent stage described is a limited closed test with some deliberately tight constraints:
- Canada only — region-locked
- Android only — no iOS in the test
- Limited player numbers — not an open beta
- Under NDA — no streaming or sharing
- No in-app purchases, and all test data wiped afterwards
Why we won't give you a release date
Because there isn't one, and the official page is genuinely ambiguous in a way that's worth being upfront about. It says the test “will be available within February” and that they “expect to enter a limited test phase early next year” — but the page carries no year anywhere on it, and isn't dated. So even the test window can't be pinned to a year from the official source, let alone a launch.
Plenty of sites will give you a confident date. They're reading the same undated page we are.
Platforms
Facepunch state Rust Mobile will be on both Android and iOS, with exact device specs revealed closer to release. The Android-only closed test listed a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and 6 GB of RAM as its minimum — but that's a test requirement, not a shipping spec, so don't bank on it as the final bar.
How to follow it properly
Facepunch point at their official Rust Mobile channels as the first place updates land. Given how thin and undated the public information is, that's genuinely the only reliable way to hear about a test or a launch first — everything else is aggregation of the same page.
Sourced from Facepunch's official Rust Mobile page, read 2026-07-16. That page is undated, so we can't confirm which year its test window refers to — which is exactly why there's no date on this page. We'll update it when Facepunch say more.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Rust Mobile out yet?expand_more
No. Rust Mobile is officially announced and endorsed by Facepunch, but it has not released. As of the last official information, it's been in a limited closed test — not a public launch.
When is Rust Mobile coming out?expand_more
There's no announced release date. Facepunch's official page describes a limited test phase but doesn't state a release date anywhere, and — genuinely — doesn't even date its own test window with a year. Anyone giving you a confident release date is making it up.
What platforms will Rust Mobile be on?expand_more
Android and iOS, per Facepunch's official page. The closed test has been Android-only, with iOS to follow. Exact device requirements are to be revealed closer to release.
Is Rust Mobile made by Facepunch?expand_more
Not directly. Facepunch describe it as officially authorised and endorsed, built with their development partners — but the partner studio isn't named on the official page, so we're not going to name one.
How do I play the Rust Mobile test?expand_more
You almost certainly can't. The closed test has been limited to Canada, Android only, capped player numbers, and under NDA — no streaming or sharing — with all test data wiped afterwards. It's a real test, not a soft launch.
Is Rust Mobile the same as PC Rust?expand_more
It's a separate game built for phones by a partner studio, so expect it to be its own thing rather than a port. Facepunch haven't published a feature comparison, so anything beyond that is speculation.
