Unlocks for everyone233 more players until a 2nd prize is added — 2 winners

More entrants normally means worse odds. Here it doesn't — every milestone adds another prize, so more players means more winners. Bringing people in improves everyone's chances, including yours.

How to earn entries

Entries are free. There is nothing to buy, deposit or trade — this is a prize draw, not a raffle.

Who can enter

We gate entry on real Steam signals so the prize goes to an actual Rust player rather than a script farming accounts:

One entry set per Steam account. Full terms on the giveaway terms page.

Provably fair

Almost every Rust giveaway asks you to take the result on trust. This one doesn't — you can check it yourself, and you don't have to believe a word we say.

  1. Before entries open, we generate a secret random seed and publish its fingerprint — a SHA-256 hash. Publishing it up front means we can't swap the seed later without the hash no longer matching, and at that point we don't know who will enter, so we can't pick a seed that favours anyone.
  2. When entries close, we take a public random number from drand, a randomness beacon nobody — including us — controls or can predict. That stops us delaying the close to fish for a result we like.
  3. The winner is calculated, not chosen:ticket = sha256(seed : beacon : entryListHash) mod totalEntriesEveryone's entries are laid end to end, and whoever holds that ticket number wins. More entries means more tickets — that's the only advantage they give.
  4. After the drawwe publish the seed, the beacon value and the entry-list hash. Anyone can re-run the sum and land on the same winner. If our seed didn't match the fingerprint we published beforehand, you'd know immediately.

Save this. When we publish the seed after the draw, run it through any SHA-256 tool — it has to produce exactly this string.

What to avoid

Anything asking you to sign in with Steam on a site you don't recognise, deposit a skin “to verify”, or download a program to claim a prize is a scam — those are the two patterns behind almost every Rust inventory theft. Facepunch and Twitch never ask for your password, and neither do we: our sign-in goes through Steam itself.
