Do I need charcoal as well as sulfur?expand_more

Yes — every explosive runs through gunpowder, which needs charcoal alongside the sulfur. 1 Rocket takes 1,400 sulfur and 1,900 charcoal; 1 C4 takes 2,200 sulfur and 3,000 charcoal. Charcoal comes free from burning wood in a furnace while you smelt, which is why raid planning is usually sulfur-limited rather than charcoal-limited.
