Rust Built Different

A ground-up rebuild of the player model and animation system, with new meshes, more realistic proportions, expanded head and hair variety, and a new animation subsystem intended to make movement look less robotic. It also brings loot-only military gear and a custom navmesh system replacing Unity's.

Release date

Built Different released on 4 June 2026. Named Rust updates ship on the first Thursday of the month and land alongside a force wipe, so this is also the day every server's map reset. If you're working out when the next one lands, the wipe timer tracks it.
