Rust Decay Calculator
How long each building tier survives without a tool cupboard paying upkeep.
| Tier | Wall HP | Decays In (no TC) |
|---|---|---|
| Twig | 10 | 1 hour |
| Wood | 250 | 3 hours |
| Stone | 500 | 5 hours |
| Sheet Metal | 1000 | 8 hours |
| Armored | 2000 | 12 hours |
Times are without any upkeep. A stocked tool cupboard stops decay entirely.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take for a base to decay in Rust?expand_more
It depends on the tier. Without a tool cupboard supplying upkeep, twig lasts about an hour, wood ~3 hours, stone ~5 hours, sheet metal ~8 hours and armored ~12 hours before it's destroyed.
How do I stop my base decaying?expand_more
Place a tool cupboard and keep it stocked with the upkeep resources for your building tier. As long as upkeep is paid, structures don't decay.
Does decay damage happen all at once?expand_more
No — once decay starts, the structure loses health gradually over the decay window until it's destroyed. Refreshing upkeep resets it.
